We developed BSCL6829 exclusively for the purpose of cutting (scribing) glasses. BSCL6829 enhances the processing performance compared to when kerosene is used.

1. Theory of cutting
When cutting wheel is running on the surface of glass with a pressure that exceeds the critical amount, median crack is generated on glass at contact. Lateral crack is then generated by influence of tensile stress or thermal stress while the pressure is released.
2. Role of cutting oil
In order to achieve good breakout, it is necessary to help develop median crack and to inhibit lateral crack. Cutting liquid is used to help develop median crack by quickly penetrating into the scribed line. This liquid is also penetrated into the lateral crack to remove thermal stress, which then inhibits further development of the lateral crack by its surface tension. Most importantly, the liquid will wash and lubricate cutting wheel.
3. Characteristics of BSCL6829
Kerosene has been used as cutting oil for a long time but its boiling point is unstable (from 170℃ to 230℃) which is a major problem for removing thermal stress.
Kerosene has a good washing performance, but it does not have enough lubricating performance which creates an adverse affect on the operating life of cutter wheel and bearing of cutter holder. Because the surface tension is not optimized for cutting glasses, crack or fragment of cutting glass can be easily produced. Therefore, it is not the perfect oil for glass cutting. Impurities (mostly aromatic series) are also mixed in the Kerosene causing an adverse effect on processing machine (cutting belt, etc.).

BSCL6829 is micro-water soluble and is not affected by humidity existing in ambient air or moisture on glass surface. Thus, it generates spectacular cutting performance without affecting later process such as grinding, washing, printing or butyl application.
*BSCL6829 can be used for cutting (scribing) process of automotive glass, FPD glass or architectural glass.
*BSCL6829 works good for cutting (scribing) process with small quantity. You could cut or scribe approximately 10m with 1mL.
